![]() Resolution, identified by NPI of the print head, should be used to analyze the image quality.ĭPI and resolution are both elements that make up a high-quality image, and are often used side by side to produce print media, but resolution is all that matters when it comes to digital media. DPI does not simply or seamlessly transfer to digital media. Many people still believe that DPI is the ideal measure for digital printing, it simply is not. Inkjet printheads are distinguished by their nozzles per inch (NPI) or the rectangular grid of possible printable dots defined by the nozzle distance along the axis of the printhead, and by the speed and frequency along the axis of the media motion. Printing directly to film and transferring the image to a garment allows for the best resolution. Printing directly to garments reduces the resolution and contrast of the image. Many factors contribute to the overall performance of a printhead: Drop size, Nozzles per inch, Drop volume consistency, Accuracy of drop placement, and the systems overall integration. The level of sharpness or contrast, a component of the drop size. There are two major factors that influence print resolution:Ģ. Print resolution is the ability of a printing system to reproduce image detail. Versus screen printing - print and apply nearly immediately, less set up, less people, less messĪLL IN ALL - DTF costs less to get into, costs less to produce and is much easier Versus DTF - we have solved the polyester problem 100% - we have yet to print on a product that we couldn't get to work - even hard goods such as wood and coffee mugs - though we sell DTF for those applicationsĤ. You can control the output and the density of the ink at any time and on any image.ģ. Then why Color Drop - we take EVERYTHING to the next level - our head boards are the best available, we have ink filters and circulation systems and ink stirring systems and the BEST ICC profiles available. We have competitors, and we believe that our competitors printers work - hey, they are just digital printers and digital printers have been around for many years While others may mock their "home-made" converted printers, Color Drop watches what they are doing and we see those people as future customersĢ. THEN we saw the videos, received the samples and WOW, here we are 18 months later - an authorized EPSON dealer, having Pitney Bowes as our service team and the self-proclaimed leader in DTF sales in the United States and Canada - we've even sold 2 printers to Trinidad!ġ. Now, they have 20 years in sublimation printer experience, and I thought we would dip our toe into that over-saturated business, but DTF is much better, with more upside. We stay in 9 or 12 pass mode for everything we do.In late July 2020 we were approached by previous overseas colleagues and were asked to be the North American arm of their new Direct to Film printer and dryer - at first, we thought, "Well, just transfers," and, were not immediately interested. We have found we can't run some modes because the printer needs more ink than the ink delivery system can handle. Print Mode is too fast for the ink delivery system - when we try to run in a 3 or 6 pass mode it seems that the printer can't keep up with the ink needed for the print and the printer starts to band in some colors. ![]() Adjust the negative pressure up or down to get to your proper range.Ĥ. Negative Pressure is out of range - For our printer we have Richo Gen 5 print heads - two rows of 3 heads and run -4.5 to -5.0 if it's too high or too low we have issues. #Colordrop printing how toCheck to make sure your negative pressure manometer is properly calibrated - here is a video on how to properly reset the manometer.ģ. Reset Negative Pressure Manometer - The guys at Fluid Color say they have a new negative pressure system they are using, but if your machine is older you might have the negative pressure pump above the ink system (that is where our's is). Here is a video on how to purge out the vent tube and "burp" the lines.Ģ. Air in the lines - Sometimes we get air in the lines and it causes head fallout as we print but nozzle checks look great. Here are the issues we normally see causing the issue:ġ. ![]() Did you solve your issue? A Fluid Color Flatbed is really just a Handtop printer with their fluid ink in it (CET, which we have is also a Handtop), we've seen this issue numerous times over the years. ![]()
